Therien Studio Workshops Leather Stool / Low Chair, Cognac & Gilt Frame

A Therien Studio Workshops leather stool / low chair, retaining its original sewn "Therien Studio Workshops" maker's label (shown in the photos). A curved, carved wood frame finished in deep oxblood red with a worn silver-gilt edge supports a generously padded cognac leather seat trimmed with a tight row of antiqued brass nailheads. The leather has aged to a soft, variegated patina, with natural creases and tonal depth no contemporary finish can fake.

Therien Studio Workshops is the custom-furniture atelier of Therien & Co., the Los Angeles and San Francisco house known to the design trade for impeccable original and reproduction pieces in the Continental, Swedish, and Italian classical traditions. Studio Workshops seating is bench-made to a very high standard and regularly trades in the four figures; the surviving maker's label here is exactly the provenance that separates this from anonymous vintage seating.

Low and inviting, it works as a stool at the foot of a bed, a fireside companion seat in a library, a perch in a dressing room or powder room, or pull-up occasional seating beside a low table. The cognac leather and gilt-edged red frame bring warmth to traditional brown-furniture rooms and cooler contemporary palettes alike.
